Tips and accessories
EWT make their own custom tungsten carbide tips more suitable for wood turning than for steel. As a machinist, Craig was more than familiar with TC for cutting steel, and using a metallugists skills, formulated a special TC for timber cutting. The result of this has seen this wonder material totally outshine traditional high speed steel, especially in regards to durability, strenght and the ability to hold a razor sharp edge for some 10 times longer than older chisel steels.
Only three shapes are needed. Square for roughing out ( and for finishing ), diamond for detailing and round for profiling and finishing. The round tip is also used for hollowering.
Each is held in place by a small countersunk screw, and when a new edge is needed, simply loosen the screw and rotate. The “square’ tips are also available with a 2″ and 4” radius on each edge.
